LaKoma Island Investments LLC claimed the $1.35 billion Mega Millions jackpot won in Maine in 2023. The ticket was sold at Hometown Gas & Grill in Lebanon, making it the first Mega Millions jackpot ever won in the state. The public learned the claiming entity, but not the person or people behind it.

With the winner protected behind an LLC, there were no personal plans to report. The prize’s cash option was about $723.5 million before taxes, which could have funded waterfront property, family trusts, businesses, philanthropy, and a lifetime of privacy. For Maine, the win was historic even without a public face attached.
