#31: Dynasty Was Almost Called Oil—Really
Before the Carringtons became TV royalty, the show had a much simpler (and much less glamorous) working title: Oil. Producers initially focused on the business side of the story, imagining a drama rooted in corporate power struggles rather than high fashion and family fireworks.

Thankfully, the title evolved along with the show’s identity. As the series grew more opulent, dramatic, and character-driven, Oil just didn’t fit the glittering world they were building. Changing it to Dynasty gave the show the sweeping, iconic feel it needed—and the rest is prime-time soap history.
