#9: Dog n Suds (1953)
While the name sounds like a place you take your dog for a bath, it’s actually referring to its hot dogs and root beer. Founded in Champaign, Illinois, in 1953, it became more than a Midwest staple in the ’70s, as it had over 650 restaurants.
However, the old drive-in restaurant soon fell out of style, and these suds were washed away. But it’s still around in the Midwest, with 15 locations if you’re in the area and want to relive your childhood.
