#13: Arthur Treacher’s Fish & Chips (1969)
Arthur Treacher’s used to be one of the best fast-food places to go if you were in the mood for seafood. Named after the character actor, it was indeed a British fast-food invasion in the ’70s, with over 800 locations.
However, it quickly went under due to the Cod War, which was a dispute between Iceland and Britain over fishing rights. The Cod War caused the price to double, sinking Arthur Treacher’s at the end of the ’70s. However, two locations remain in Cuyahoga Falls and Garfield Heights in Ohio.
