#12: Lum’s (1956-2017)
Founded in Florida in 1956, Lum’s served hot dogs steamed in beer, a concept that made it big for a couple of decades. At its peak, it even owned Ceasar’s Palace in Las Vegas. It was big, but too big.
In other words, it opened too many locations, and it mostly went defunct in 1982. Several franchised locations did continue, but these, unfortunately, are gone as of 2017.
